Everything you need to know

How much is tutoring?

Our tutoring days are usually £46. Any days booked before March 10th will be offered at £40.

What does the day look like?

  • 9.30am: Drop off > Tutees use this time to choose their activity for that day’s Enrichment session

  • 10am: Welcome > Tutees from each cohort gather for a quick explanation of what the day holds and there is a quick quiz in teams to get the grey matter stimulated for the day - with prizes at the end of the day

  • 10:20am: Session 1

  • 11:15am: Break: Tuck shop!

  • 11:30am: Session 2

  • 12:25pm: Lunchtime!

  • 1:10pm: Session 3

  • 2:05pm: Session 4

  • 3pm: Round up - Tutees gather for round up of the day, prizes, results

  • 3:30pm: Pick up

What do the sessions comprise of?

  • English, Maths and Science for the GCSE cohort

  • English, Maths and Skills for Life for the Common Entrance cohort (this last session involves a daily guest speaker recounting a unique life experience from the worlds of entrepreneurship, music, travel, education, sport and charity)

  • Verbal and non-verbal reasoning, general relevant Maths and English for the Year 6 SATs and 11+ cohorts

  • Enrichment sessions - organised and structures activities, including arts, crafts, video game tournaments, reading corner, chess, draughts, creative writing as well as the opportunity to discuss any learning questions with our seasoned practitioners.

What is the point of the Enrichment Sessions?

Research indicates that including a variety of learning in these types of days is conducive to greater academic success. As well as providing an outlet for creativity and competition, there is also the opportunity for some of our practitioners more informally about any learning issues arising.

Are there rules around phone use?

Yes! Phones are allowed on site and may be used during break times (this means morning break and lunch and strictly not during any of the learning sessions). They should be switched off or on silent during the rest of the day. Should parents need to contact any of their children urgently, they should call the camp office and a message will get to them directly. Other non-urgent messages will be relayed at an appropriate moment. Essentially, we want your child to be present during these sessions so that they get maximum impact from every session.

Are break times and the enrichment session supervised?

Absolutely! There will always be at least one member of staff supervising per class of 12 and we have additional staff assisting in some lessons and always during the break, lunch and chill out zone sessions.

What does my child need to bring?

They should bring a standard set of school equipment for English, Maths and Science, including pens (including black, blue, green and red/purple for the purposes of self-assessment), pencils, erasers, sharpeners, highlighters a calculator and a notepad (this is for jotting ideas down - we will provide course booklets for the tutees in which they can complete the main body of their work from the course.

Is lunch provided?

Time for your child to eat the packed lunch you have provided! Your child can also buy confectionery at the tuck shop during break and lunch. It’s a chance for children to relax a little after a busy morning!
